The failure of an air conditioner in hot weather causes a big problem, especially if it is an air conditioner in the office or an air conditioner in the home. It is impossible to work effectively when the air temperature in the office approaches 30 degrees Celsius. It is also impossible to sleep at night or simply relax at home in such conditions.
How to prevent air conditioning failure?
Today, air conditioners are low-failure appliances and can last for several or even twenty years. However, air conditioning repairs will be needed and there is no way to avoid this. But there are ways to prolong the efficiency and trouble-free operation of your air conditioner. Here are some advice.
The first rule – do not be economical with air conditioning installation. It is at this stage that the groundwork is laid for a long trouble-free operation of the air conditioner. A decent air conditioning installation first and foremost requires a lot of experience on the part of the technicians, they are the ones who carefully carry out all the necessary work – laying out the routes, connecting the units, checking for leaks, drying the pipes and doing many other things that determine how quickly air conditioning repair will be needed and the cost of air conditioning repair. Second rule – it is not worth to economize on the purchase of an air conditioner. In doing so (as one of the tasks of air conditioning is to clean the air), all dust stays in the unit and, under the influence of humidity, which is also present in the inner unit, creates a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. A clean unit is the basis for a long and trouble-free operation of the air conditioner. In addition, during air conditioning service, a basic diagnosis is made of the correct functioning of the equipment. During this diagnosis, the technician can identify a fault or a future problem. Finding the fault and repairing the air conditioner at the initial stage always has a lower cost of air conditioning repair compared to when a customer reports a breakdown of a unit that has not been serviced for several years.
Fourth rule – it is a good idea to unplug the air conditioner during major downtimes, for example in autumn and until May. Why is this worth it?
- Firstly, being live, the electronics in the unit also wear out.

- Thirdly, the air conditioner in winter, being in standby mode, heats up the compressor, which is associated with power consumption (10-50W/h) and air conditioning running costs. - The air conditioning does not work, there is no reaction to the remote control.
Very often this fault occurs at the first start-up of the season. In this case, first the power supply to the air conditioner must be checked – it is often the case that the user forgets to switch on the fuse or insert the plug into the socket. - The air conditioner does not work, it has power but does not respond to the remote control.
First, you need to switch on the air conditioner from the button, which is usually under the front panel. If the unit has switched on – the cause is in the remote control or the infrared receiver. You need to replace the batteries in the remote control. If this does not help – call a technician. - The air conditioning is not cooling.
There can be many reasons for this, but the basic action that the user can take on their own is to check the settings on the remote control. It is worth remembering that it is not enough just to set the target temperature. It is important to switch on the appropriate mode – cooling (Cool button or snowflake) or heating (Heat button or sun). Otherwise, the air conditioner, for example when in heating mode, will not switch itself to cooling when the temperature setting is lowered. It is also not worth using AUTO mode.
